Oslo-born singer-songwriter JOA's newest single "A Little Kinder" is a heartfelt pop-folk tune about shedding negative thoughts about oneself. At 20 years old, JOA has honed her skills since her early teens, combining her theatrical background with a natural talent for creating relatable songs.

Stemming from her personal experience battling self-doubt, JOA uses "A Little Kinder" as a way of finding her inner strength as she questions her past with lines like "Would it calm my insecurities/If I were the person they wanted me to be."  JOA continues to confront her fears, and once the chorus hits, she sheds the negative, intrusive thoughts that have held her back with the self-affirming lines, "It's a reminder/telling myself that it's only getting brighter/to be a little kinder."

Overall, the track’s production is a master class in instrumentation. The slow build-up adds urgency to JOA's emotional storytelling and by the time it reaches a crescendo in the chorus section, we get to hear a newly invigorated version of the singer.

JOA is currently working on her debut EP, Previous Problems, which explores her transition into adulthood and serves as a bittersweet farewell to her teenage years. Previous Problems is set to drop in 2025.
