UK singer/ songwriter Rumer's new single "Slow" is a solemn, heartwarming love ballad that sees her re-interpreting a song from her discography in a new form. "Slow" is a heartfelt plea for love and the hopes of finding it in the right person and the journey of self-worth and growth. Backed by a mellow groove, and sparkling piano chords with soothing pads that complement Rumer's rich vocal tone and jazzy inflections, the new version showcases Rumer's live performance approach with a modern contemporary touch.
The song is taken from her forthcoming special project In Session which will be released on 31st January 2025 via Kartel Music Group. The album is a fresh, soulful take on Rumer's much-loved songs recorded with the masterful Redtenbacher’s Funkestra and released in conjunction with the 15-year anniversary of her double platinum-selling hit debut album ‘Seasons Of My Soul’. The original version from her 2010 platinum debut Seasons Of My Soul.
Rumer’s 2010 platinum debut Seasons Of My Soul, was named #26 of the Official Top 40 biggest debut albums from the last decade and peaking at #3 on the UK Albums Chart. The debut set the blueprint for Rumer’s honeyed, soul sound and received widespread acclaim from the likes of Elton John who remarked that “Singers like Rumer don’t come around very often”.Her anticipated follow-up Boys Don’t Cry followed in 2012, her interpretation of a selection of songs by male artists and writers from the 70s and 80s period such as Todd Rundgren, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Neil Young and Terry Reid. Subsequent albums Into Colour (2014), This Girl’s In Love (A Bacharach & David Songbook) (2016) and Nashville Tears (The Songs of Hugh Prestwood) (2020) ensued, further cementing Rumer as a master of her craft with an innate ability to pen rousing, mesmerizing soul pop.
