In a fitting conclusion to electronic music's groundbreaking debut at Las Vegas' Sphere, Anyma delivered a mesmerizing finale to his 'The End of Genesys' residency on January 11th, with support from electronic music titans CamelPhat and techno innovator Layton Giordani. The show marked the climactic end to an eight-night run that revolutionized expectations for electronic music performances and firmly established the $2.3 billion venue as an ideal home for the genre's technological ambitions.

Throughout the residency, which sold an impressive 130,000 tickets, Anyma (Matteo Milleri) transformed the world's largest spherical structure into a portal between humanity and technology. Each night brought its own special energy, with earlier shows featuring memorable appearances from a roster of electronic music's most compelling voices. FKA twigs appeared in an ethereal underwater sequence performing the Anyma remix of "Eusexua," while Grimes made a characteristically otherworldly appearance writhing in a glowing box. Ellie Goulding debuted her collaboration with Anyma, "Hypnotized," and Delilah Montagu delivered a stirring live rendition of "I Believe In You".

The finale maintained the stunning visual narrative that defined the run – a poetic journey following the relationship between man and machine, rendered in breathtaking detail across Sphere's 580,000-square-foot LED display. The choice of CamelPhat and Layton Giordani as opening acts for the final night brought additional gravitas, with both acts delivering sets that highlighted the venue's spectacular audio capabilities.

Like previous nights in the run, the main performance unfolded across four acts, with the venue's unprecedented technical capabilities bringing Anyma's transhumanist vision to new heights. The show's signature moments remained powerful – the cyborg breaking through glass, her dizzying freefall through space, and the emotional climax where humanity triumphs as the male character gives her a beating heart. This narrative arc, played out on the world's highest-resolution LED screen, created an immersive experience that blur the lines between concert, film, and digital art installation.

Musically, fan favorites like "Hear Me Now" and "Walking With a Ghost" drove the energy alongside Anyma's remix of Fred again.. and Swedish House Mafia's "Turn On the Lights again…" The set also featured unreleased material that hinted at future directions for the project, while Sphere's concert-grade audio system powered by HOLOPLOT delivered the kind of immersive sound experience that melodic techno demands.

The residency's ambitious visual production, created in collaboration with digital artists Alessio De Vecchi and Tobias Gremmler under Alexander Wessely's executive production, proved a perfect match for Sphere's technological capabilities. While previous residencies by U2, Phish, and Dead & Company demonstrated the venue's versatility, Anyma's run showed how electronic music could fully utilize its groundbreaking features.

What made the residency particularly special was how it transformed the typical electronic music experience. While many large-scale dance music shows take place in seated venues, Sphere created something entirely new – a hybrid experience where attendees in seated areas felt the music through chairs programmed to rumble with the bass, while others danced on the floor level. This marriage of traditional concert seating with dance music culture created an atmosphere more akin to a futuristic movie theater than a typical club night or festival stage.

The success of this first electronic music residency at Sphere – from its instant sellout to its execution – marks a significant moment for the genre. By bringing underground electronic culture to one of entertainment's most sophisticated venues, the residency demonstrated both the genre's mainstream appeal and its unlimited potential for innovation. As Anyma appeared briefly on screen during the finale – his digital avatar, complete with tattoos, replacing the human character – it felt like both a personal reveal and a statement about electronic music's evolution from underground movement to technological vanguard.
