Ry Hill bridges electronic and indie sensibilities on debut album 'Death by Distraction'

Los Angeles-bred, Brooklyn-based producer Ry Hill has unveiled his debut album Death by Distraction, a 12-track journey through the evolving landscape of indie-house music. The album represents nearly six years of artistic evolution, showcasing Hill's multifaceted talents as a singer, guitarist, keyboardist, and producer.

Death by Distraction seamlessly weaves organic instrumentation with electronic production, creating a sound that feels both intimate and dance floor-ready. From the bouncy pop-infused opener "Physical" to the RÜFÜS DU SOL-reminiscent guitar work on "Lost In My Sentiments," Hill demonstrates his ability to craft songs that resonate beyond typical genre constraints.

The album's production palette draws from various corners of electronic music while maintaining a cohesive vision. Tracks like "Distracted" channel the organic house sophistication of Nora En Pure, while "Fire In The Snow" introduces folky elements through acoustic guitar work. The project closes with an extended version of Hill's streaming hit "Is This Real," featuring acclaimed TikTok vocalist CAMERON.

Since first emerging on SoundCloud in 2016, Hill (born Cameron DeFaria) has established himself as a notable figure in LA's club scene. Following his label debut "Ascension" on Ibiza's Haustronaut Recordings earlier this year, Hill signed with FRNDS MGMT, joining a roster that includes Alison Wonderland and Crooked Colours.

Death by Distraction arrives as a polished statement piece from an artist equally comfortable with live instrumentation and electronic production. Through hypnotic arpeggios, metaphoric lyricism, and carefully crafted soundscapes, Hill has created an album that feels at home both in headphones and Ibiza beach clubs.

Death by Distraction is out now on all streaming platforms.
