2025 could be the year when we truly see artists, pushing the envelope of digital revenue.. With streaming, barely providing anything close to a revenue stream for most artists, the most innovative in the community are looking further afield to explore new opportunities and creative avenues.
Metalabel and Jamie Reddington, better known as Sound of Fractures, have just took this approach with Network Archives 001: A Directory of Inspiration, a groundbreaking 190-page digital zine celebrating creative innovation. The publication showcases 29 detailed project breakdowns from musicians and creators who are reshaping how art is conceived, distributed, and sustained.
This zine, curated and edited by Reddington, emerged from a desire to document creator-driven experimentation. It dives into the challenges and breakthroughs faced by contributors working at the intersection of music, technology, and culture. Featuring essays, reflections, and insights, the zine aims to empower artists navigating the evolving digital landscape, where platforms like streaming services and social media often dictate the rules.
The zine brings together voices such as Black Dave MK2, Verite, Cam Murdoch, C.Y. Lee, and Dot, offering a rich tapestry of ideas and approaches for overcoming modern creative hurdles.
Executive Producer C.Y. Lee described the publication as "a real-time record of new cultural formations across emerging mediums." By chronicling the creative process, Network Archives 001 not only preserves the experiments driving innovation but also fosters collaboration and community within a global network of visionaries.
