New Jersey raised and New York City based musician and singer-songwriter John Joseph has unleashed his latest single "Tell Me". The track is a highlight off of his newly shared EP entitled EP2. The seven-track EP features a collection of off-kilter and experimental indie rock songs infused with Jazz and Americana for an enthralling listen.
"Tell Me" is all about taking that chance of telling someone you love them and being vulnerable and open in the face of uncertainty. The song talks about trying to lean into the idea that a relationship and love itself is not a guarantee but it is indeed worth the risk. Lyrics including, "Tell me / Tell me / You are mine / I am yours," show this narrative. Musically, "Tell Me" features fuzzed-out guitars, fractured melodies and a catchy bassline. It’s a record that invites you to lean in, to make sense of its weirdness, to hear the unfiltered creativity beneath its scrappy exterior. There's a sense of spontaneity and rawness that gives "Tell Me" a timeless quality; the jagged edges, the sudden shifts in tempo, the bursts of distortion, all add to its sense of unpredictable freedom. Layered instrumentation and compelling warm vocals also add to the song's allure.
John Joseph began playing music at a young age and attended The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music where he graduated. There he met friends and musical collaborators Harry Smith (drums), Gabe Paiano (guitar), and Finn Carroll (bass).
