Berlin-based, French/Australian singer/songwriter Elodie Gervaise unveils her second double A-side single, “King of Cups/Communication”, as she prepares for her forthcoming debut album Exosoul [of Anaïnja]. "King Of Cups" sees her teaming up with German producer Noah Becker for a self-love anthem with a psychedelic twist. Noach Becker's brooding and dynamic soundscapes push the musical envelope with its forward-thinking approach. Adapting Gervaise's sultry vocals and breathy delivery with the ebb and flows of the beat, audiences are taken through the troughs and crest as she journeys to achieve the ultimate form of self-love. Fusing stream of consciousness with existential themes and lines like "Perforating predicaments that never really matter but brought me to you/essential, really, won't take any of them back/Sliding doors like crack," audiences get a sense of urgency and thoughtful introspection. Far from anchoring on being vain, Gervaise is hammering on the importance of self-love before anything else. The second track "Communication" takes a more solemn path with its sad and moody tones comprising ethereal pads and rich chords. Armed with her distinctive laidback and spoken word-inspired delivery, Gervaise digs deep into what true communication means and how it matters. Lines like "And always with love and in softness and the right tone/Anything can be said" sums up the notion and she slowly unpacks quite a lot as the track progresses. The slow build-up hits a crescendo when the drums come into play and Gervaise's vocals get warped as the song tatters off.

Elodie Gervaise branched out from her architecture background and ventured into music in 2016 as a member of groups like The Galaxy Girls and Candy Lucid. After touring across the East coast of Australia she went to Paris to obtain a Bachelor of Music degree at ATLA College of Music. She is now based in Berlin. Exosoul [of Anaïnja] is set for release via B3SCI Records on 13th December 2024
