A new initiative called NOISE is set to transform London's music landscape by championing emerging artists and addressing challenges faced by musicians, audiences, and venues. Backed by industry heavyweights like the Ministry of Sound Group and Roland, NOISE aims to turn London into a thriving hub for music discovery. Ahead of their first event on the 8th November, at The Ministry in London – The event (curated by WhatDoesNot) is looking to shake up the world of grass roots music in London. More than just a music event, the showcase is going to feature games room, makers’ and merch market – along with a food pop-up. At the heart of the night, a showcase of the city’s talent from different underground scenes and genres,

The initiative comprises three core components: NOISE events, WIP (Work In Progress) nights, and the NOISE petition. NOISE events offer a multi-sensory experience, featuring live showcases, a makers' market, and food pop-ups, fostering a sense of community and connection. WIP nights provide a platform for artists to experiment and test new material, while the NOISE petition calls for greater accessibility to live music through "pay-it-forward" ticketing. With 70% of streamed music dominated by established artists, NOISE seeks to level the playing field by promoting inclusivity and diversity.

“When you’re on the ground, working with the people impacted by the issues, you know how to creatively relieve the pressures faced by the grassroots music scene. The win-win solutions are there if enough people get behind them. That’s why we need the heavyweights to weigh in, and help us get people to pay attention. The future of music is at stake,” says Christine Charitonos, founder of What Does Not.

NOISE has already gained significant traction, with its inaugural showcase scheduled for November 8th at The Ministry, Ministry of Sound's members' club. The initiative has also been invited to join the Mayor of London's "London Creates" campaign, further solidifying its impact and potential.

Through its innovative approach and commitment to fostering emerging talent, NOISE is poised to reinvigorate London's grassroots music scene and shape the future of music in the city.
