Indie-rock darlings Porridge Radio are back with a new album, Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be For Me.
Led by singer/guitarist/songwriter Dana Margolin alongside keyboardist Georgie Slott and drummer Sam Yardley, the Brighton-formed trio released the album earlier this month after a long, exhausting few years of touring and personal turmoil.
“Clouds In The Sky” feels like anger incarnate in musical form. Not overly loud but consistently seething, as if the members have survived a tirade of terrible luck and come through the other side battered, bruised, and furious about it.
In particular, the track “God Of Everything Else” feels like this – the lyrics scream betrayal and hurt, as Dana Margolin sings “Don’t need to know where you are/You’ll be hit by a wave of me/I’m the God of everything else/You’re the God of losing me” over the chorus. The slightly cracked, shaking vocals towards the end of the track really hit this sentiment home.
