Under Starling, an alternative rock outfit with a unique sound, has finally unveiled its highly anticipated debut album, Murmurations. This significant addition to Ireland's contemporary musical landscape is a testament to the band's distinct sonic architecture, which mirrors the vastness of Ireland's geography and its complex historical narratives. The album's intricate tapestry explores themes of survival, loss, and resilience, positioning Under Starling as a compelling new force within modern rock.

With a runtime of 43 minutes across 12 meticulously crafted tracks, Murmurations showcases a rich amalgamation of reverb-laden guitar work, expansive soundscapes, and introspective lyrics. The album demands a focused listening experience, with its core single, "The Hunger," This track draws inspiration from the harrowing accounts of the Great Irish Famine, employing haunting instrumentation and poignant vocal performance. Notably, "The Hunger" features some of the band's heaviest sonic elements to date, evoking a chilling atmosphere that resonates long after the final notes fade.

Under Starling's prior release, 'Selkie,' garnered critical acclaim for its sophisticated narrative arcs and atmospheric sound design, described by RTE as 'emotionally stirring' and celebrated by HotPress for its 'majestic oceanic backdrop.' In Murmurations, the band further expands their sonic horizons with standout compositions like 'Rat King' and 'Dreamer' pushing the boundaries of musical expression regarding dynamics and emotional depth, creating a profound connection with the audience.

Drawing parallels to iconic Irish bands such as The Cranberries and U2, Under Starling carves out its own identity within the genre, appealing to aficionados of anthemic rock and narrative-driven music. Murmurations offer an immersive auditory journey through the intricacies of human experiences, leaving listeners with a profound sense of contemplation and hope.
