Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 implore us to "Stand Well Well"

As Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 prepare to release their new album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), they unveil the third single "Stand Well Well". The horn-driven Afrobeat number is inspired by Aldous Huxley's ‘Brave New World’ novel, and delves into the rat chase we often find ourselves in. From daily and routine mind-numbing activities that distract us from true purpose, Seun Kuti reminds us to forgo fame and clout chasing to focus on what truly matters. As with standard Afrobeat compositions, "Stand Well" lives up to expectations with its multi-layered musical arrangements comprising horn sections, rich guitar licks, rousing drums and African percussions.

Seun explains his inspiration behind the song as follows  “Everything in the world today looks the same. Everybody just likes the same stuff, does the same things. The world is kind of reminding me of Aldous Huxley's ‘Brave New World’. "

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s upcoming album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head) will hit the streets on October 4th via Milan-based label Record Kicks.

Seun Kuti released 4 albums with his band Egypt 80: ‘Many Things’ (2008), ‘From Africa with Fury: Rise for Knitting Factory Records’ (2011), coproduced by Brian Eno and John Reynolds, A Long Way Beginning (2014) and the Grammy-nominated Black Times (2018) that included a feature from Carlos Santana. He also worked with Black Thought (Of The Roots) on the collaborative EP African Dreams and Talib Kweli and Madlib for their album Liberation 2 on the song "Nat Turner" featuring South African rapper Cassper Nyovest.
