Austria-hailing indie pop duo Leyya share self-reflective album Half Asleep, a collection of tracks journeying through melancholic, enigmatic, and intimate tonalities while on a path to rediscovery.
Inspired by lived experiences and emotions, the project is built on a foundational thread of self-awareness with tracks “Nobody Cares, Lovely,” and “Sometimes You’re Lonely,” which taps into a sense of grounding modesty, framed by experimental and distinct sonic tones.
Meanwhile, stand out track “Hundred Or More,” with its soft vocals and muted electronic drum beats swerves into more of Leyva’s signature style, capturing the melancholia and openness of the full project within its intricate notes.
Consisting of Sophie Lindinger and Marco Kleebauer, Leyva’s ability to blend careful conceptualisation with creative chaos within their electro-pop artistry has allowed them to chart a path filled with enough twists and turns to keep us hooked to each release.
