Northside Dublin alternative rock quartet Empathy draw us into a world of moral corruption with their heavy, dark debut anthem “Jeffrey,” taking a psychological dive into Jeffrey Dahmer.
A brutal production built on eerie tones and non-stop shadowy intensity, the track is a roaring and ferocious offering. Brimming with dystopian guitar riffs that morphs into rhythmic distortions and powerful vocals, the track unfurls in a first-person narrative encapsulating pain with a macabre, personal approach.
Speaking of the track, the four-piece say, “Jeffrey is an interpretation of the internal struggles and moral wranglings of one of the most well-known serial killers of the 20th century. We wrote the song to investigate Dahmer's descent from ideation to reasoning; and eventually to his indulgent actions, and relishing in his vile nature.”
Having been conceived by singer/guitarist Dean Nolan and drummer Adam McCarthy as far back as 2017 Empathy make an memorable first impression with their bold sonic tales.
