Mould is a rising power pop and punk inhabiting trio, bursting out of Bristol, England with the release of their debut Mould EP. Launching with the raucous "Cables," a song equipped with propellent drumming and crunching chords, there are nods here to influences Fugazi and The Posies in its roaring sub-two-minute runtime.
Elsewhere they blend the sweeter melodies of Weezer with the blitzkrieg wreckage of The Ramones on both the "Space You Take Up" and "Birdsong". The final track "Glow" begins as a smooth and gentle outlier demonstrating the three-piece has a lot more to offer than shouty energy alone. There’s a blissful guitar soaring throughout the song that suggests they’re capable of producing and commanding stadium-sized tunes that a frenetic live audience would gratefully devour.
