The late great Bob Marley once said “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” The essence of music is to transport listeners to that ultimate comfort zone far from the madding crowd and since time immemorial, great artists have done it repeatedly. Now we head to the bustling streets of Harlem, New York, the stomping grounds of luminaries like Cam'Ron, Ma$e, and others but new artists like EB Sarr (real name Ebrahima) are now bringing a refreshing take on music and doing it on their terms. The rising act breaks from the norm with his debut single "Bitter Escape," a heartfelt genre-bending jam accompanied by a short film.
The track is bolstered by modern funk instrumentation with prevalent basslines, thumping drums, and a contemporary pop element that speaks to EB Sarr's versatility and noncompliance to the status quo. He starts with a short vocal introduction to prepare listeners for what is to come before leading us into his world where worries are drowned away by the soothing sounds of music. As the title suggests, it's a call to step out of the never-ending rat race and escape even if it's for a few minutes to regain our sanity.
The accompanying short film directed by Rose Sont Claires is shot in cinematic style and follows EB Sarr conducting a throwback 70s-style underground party for the everyday working man and woman who need a break from the troubles of life.
