Likwid Continual Space Motion (LCSM), led by the pioneering IG Culture, has unveiled their latest album, 'The Remedy,' via Super-Sonic Jazz. This album showcases a fusion of broken-beat jazz, neo-soul, and the intricate world of fungi, paralleling the dynamic energy of London’s underground dance music scene.
IG Culture is a central figure in the UK’s broken beat jazz scene, and has been instrumental in shaping the scene, which he refers to as 'London Bruk Boogie.' Known for his work with CoOp Presents and Selectors Assemble, his influence on the underground music scene is profound. His collaboration with Super-Sonic Jazz dates back to 2003, with a tribute to Sun Ra on Kindred Spirits.
The Remedy, a sprawling 19-track album, celebrates the interconnectedness of musical styles and the transformative power of dance music. It features a stellar lineup of musicians, including Dwayne 'Wonky Logic' Kilvington on keys, Luke Wynter and Chris Jones on bass, Benjamin Appiah on drums, Nathaniel Cross on trombone, Deji Ijishakan on saxophone, and vocalists Allysha Joy, Rara Zulu, Oliver Night, and Tyrone Isaac Stuart. Saul Bourne adds flute, Jnr Biles trumpet, The Ghettolette String Ensemble their strings, and Don Myth plays the Hammond B3 and Rhodes.
Produced and arranged by IG Culture, and mixed by Chris Jones and IG Culture, 'The Remedy' is a rich, textured celebration of London's vibrant underground music culture.
