Toronto, Ontario-based singer/producer Puma June caught our eyes and ears with her eye-popping visual for her thought-provoking single titled "My Body, My Problem." The experimental pop/R&B-infused tune explores the delicate issue of policing women's bodies and Puma takes charge letting everyone know that enough is enough. Armed with an expressive and distinctive vocal tone, Puma delivers an engaging performance bolstered by raw emotionally powerful lyrics that tap into her experience as a woman dealing with societal constraints that try to hem women and put them in a box. She doesn't hold back and challenges the powers that be as she proceeds to reclaim what rightfully belongs to her.
The visual, directed by Arden Grier, is as powerful as the song and employs a wide range of motifs and storytelling to reclaim power and body autonomy. From being told to wear this, do that, or say this, Puma breaks the mould and goes against the grain with every fibre of her being in this one.
