Portland-based band Kallai's self-titled EP is an impressive blend of shoegaze, post-punk, and alt-rock influences, showcasing a dynamic soundscape and introspective storytelling. The EP consists of three tracks, with "Always/Never" leading the lineup. This track combines dreamy shoegaze textures with driving post-punk rhythms, exploring themes of self-realization and personal accountability in past relationships.

Following "Always/Never" is "Palisades," which juxtaposes shimmering guitars with a steady alt-rock beat, delving into the emotional aftermath of trauma and the struggle to move forward. The standout track, "Dig," encapsulates hope and resilience with its lush instrumental layers and poignant lyrics, making it a favorite among fans.

The single "Kallai" offers a cohesive and emotionally charged experience, highlighting the band's ability to intertwine introspective storytelling with a rich sonic palette that is both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary.
