Following a momentous spring season, global afro-house collective &friends releases what may be the project's most hotly anticipated release to date. Reimagining Cameroonian-American singer-songwriter Kang’s original, &friends and Sam Zloty deliver a spiritually charged, dance floor-driven rendition of “DAY5” via TH3RD BRAIN Records.
Whether experienced on headphones or in the club, "DAY5 &friends" radiates an undeniable charisma, brimming with the infectious energy that has become the hallmark of &friends. Injecting afro-house ambiance, &friends and Zloty skillfully craft a forward-thinking atmosphere around Kang's integral vocal composition, artfully layering organic elements to shape a smooth build and sonically expansive peak. The track's dynamic, percussive frenzy of melodic afro-house ignites both dance floors and souls, evoking a familiar sensation that lifts the corners of smiles with its uplifting measures of unity and euphoria.
For &friends, this release marks a return to TH3RD BRAIN Records following their acclaimed remix of Zerb's unstoppable "Mwaki." A coveted ID in every &friends set, "DAY5 &friends" has had fans eagerly awaiting its official release.
“DAY5 &friends” comes hot on the heels of &friends debut performance at Coachella on Weekend 2 for a magical sunset set at the DoLab Stage. Sean Thomas artfully followed up an explosive surprise performance by Marc Rebillet, with a setlist packed entirely with unreleased &friends originals and remixes of the likes of Akon, Eminem, Amy Winehouse, and Jessie Ware. Most recently, &friends has released official remixes from massive players in music like Myke Towers, Bayanni, and Ry X and mammoth dance tracks such as Zerb’s “Mwaki”, as well as “Veneno” by Sofi Tukker.
&friends is the musical concept and brainchild of Sean Thomas.
