Toronto-based darkwave/post-punk duo Gelax share evocative first offering “Loki,” from forthcoming collection Shhh…set to be a powerful musical statement blending punk, indie rock and electronic pop.
A thoughtful yet foreboding production the reflects on the various divides in society, the track captures moods of chaos and deception within its complex lyrical narrative.
Speaking on the single, they explain, "The song just came effortlessly, especially after the COVID pandemic period, where we saw a big unrest between races, sexes, genders, sexualities, political views, ideological views, even scientific matters. Loki is the warning. The shape shifting god is coming back to add to our chaos and deception while we’re all distracted."
Composed of singer-songwriter Gelareh and multi-instrumentalist Tareq, the duo who have honed an unapologetic and experimental sonic approach over the years are all set to offer a refreshing dosage of compelling messages and musical creativity with their upcoming project.
