London-based Ghanaian/ British singer/songwriter Nectar Woode grew up in a creative family with a saxophonist father and artist/fashion-cutter mother. Exposed to the arts at a young age, she soaked in sounds from luminaries such as Erykah Badu and D’Angelo and ventured into playing with cover bands in university before she started writing her songs. Her latest release "Nothing To Lose" is a smooth soul-hip-hop-infused jam that explores shifting emotion and taking that giant leap of faith even if things look murky. Armed with her soft honeyed vocal runs, Nectar easily engulfs the chilled guitar-driven backdrop and draws us in with her mesmerizing layered harmonies and heartfelt lyrics.
The accompanying video serves as a journal and diary of some sort as viewers get to relive Nectar's memories from the past year. From her live shows and behind-the-scenes sessions to her being in her element and having fun with her people.
"Nothing To Lose" is the title track to her forthcoming EP.
Her next London headline show will take place at Omeara on 14th March – tickets are available from here.
