Tampa-hailing emerging act Leo Waters delves into the early days of a past relationship on “Smoke + Mirrors,” drawing influences on several influences spanning Motown, R&B and pop to trace a path as one of the top rising talents of 2024.
Speaking of the track, he says, “I was speaking about how by the end of the relationship it was unclear to me if it was purely physical or something more. think this song is the beginning of me establishing myself in the industry as a real artist. I am involved in writing and producing my whole project. I like to be part of the full picture. I’m grateful people are listening to the song and that I have the platform to make music I love.”
Having begun his career as a professional dancer in Chicagoaged 15, Waters has nurtured his love song writing and singing over the years. After a rogue trip to Los Angeles in 2023, Waters connected to Donn Robb, a legendary Chicago executive producer credited for developing the likes of The Kid Laroi, G Herbo,and Juice Wrld. Robb took Waters under his wing and the two developed several projects over the summer.
