After gifting us a trippy version of Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets" earlier this year, alternative R&B Artist Hua Li returns with a brand new single "Cherrier." The bright synth-pop-infused track sees Hua Li reflecting on her past and the varying memories and experiences that shaped her. Over the rich bouncy soundscape provided by her longtime collaborator Alex, Hua Li's distinct vocal runs flow effortlessly as she digs deep into the past. Hua Li runs through these memories and while she tries to cleanse herself of the trauma, she realizes that it's all part of a growth cycle and the best way to heal is to embrace it all.
The accompanying video hinges on nostalgia and solemnity with the use of the classic camcorder that helps frame the long-lost memories that Hua Li tries to rewrite. The retro effects play a huge part as the use of short performance shots and clips following Hua Li across Plateau-Mont Royal in Montreal.
