Vancouver-based 4-member genre-bending band OurGlassZoo first came into the social consciousness in 2017 when they released their debut EP, they followed this with a sophomore EP and a handful of videos and singles. Fast forward to 2022, the band released its debut album Aftermath to critical acclaim from top publications and now they return with the visual for the song "Free Remix". This new version recruits the help of veteran rappers Prevail (Of Swollen Members fame) Moka Only and legendary DJ KutMasta Kurt. The track is helmed by KutMasta Kurt who crafts a punchy jazzy backdrop ripe with warm pads, rich piano chords, and a head nodding drum groove to match the energy brought by the performers. Prevail leads the charge in the first verse with some insightful bars followed by Moka Only's commanding presence and equally enlightening lyrical schemes that dwell on self-actualization, equality, and breaking away from the social stereotypes that try to keep one ensnared. The track is threaded by a rich melodic chorus as well as some excellent scratches from KutMasta Kurt.
The music video employs retro aesthetics from the ‘80s and '90s and is directed by Diego Lara and Josias Tschanz.
