La Poré is the music nom de plume of writer, producer, and actor Nick Samson who caught his teeth performing in different venues in his hometown Columbus, OH before moving to Los Angeles in November 2019. His latest release "Come and Gone" is a retro-synth-pop record that sees him collaborating with producer/writer Jaye Locke who crafts a lush and nostalgia-inducing soundscape.
Here, La Poré expounds on the concept of overcoming things that might seem beyond our control with a focus on inner reflection. Armed with his distinct lilting melodic vocals he reminds us that sometimes, we are our own hurdles and the solution is to step back and take appropriate steps to move on. Lines like "Oh I want you to know/ I promise to give it my all/Cause I don’t wanna/ Die before my my day’s come and gone, Come and Gone" show how self-doubt can creep into one's mind and detract from focusing on the important things. In the end, he implores us to always get back up after every fall.
The song comes with a cinematic video directed by Dan Hess and it's quite engaging with its off-kilter storyboarding and retro visual aesthetics.
In addition to being a musician, Samson is also an actor. He currently appears in a supporting role in the feature length film “Poser," which premiered at New York City's Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021, and made its official North American Theater release Summer 2022.
