Vancouver indie-rock outlet Night Hymns have just debuted his latest single titled "Blue Bottle." The song explores the idea of embracing a contented existence as a "happy fly" rather than being as liberated as a bird.

Night Hymns shares the inspiration behind the song, recounting his experience in a San Francisco café called "Blue Bottle." The name amused him because it evoked imagery of a plump fly, possibly because the café was situated in a less pristine part of the city.

Night Hymns, also known as Wei, describes himself as a "latter-day slacker rocker" who took up the guitar solely to play rock and roll. The idea of formal guitar lessons seems peculiar to him, and if rock music didn't exist, he would have pursued a different path. His aim is to connect with people who appreciate this style of music. The simplicity of the music makes its message hard to miss. He writes about his longing to explore new places, drawing inspiration from his own travels, as well as the small moments that bring him joy; all while resonating with his audience. While his influences span the world, the melodies he brings to life are often spontaneous, flowing straight from his mind. The result is a

In the previous year, Night Hymns released three singles: "Shine On," "Sans souci," and "Araby."

"Blue Bottle" begins with a subdued and rhythmic drum shuffle reminiscent of John Bonham, gradually building up to a stripped-down arrangement of melodic indie-rock with subtle echoes of The Beatles. Night Hymns' tenderly flavored voice lends a velvety texture to the lyrics.

The song "Blue Bottle" emanates a delightful blend of nostalgic rhythms and warm vocals, evoking shimmering retro textures, which will keep you coming back for more Night Hymns again and again.
