Norwegian/Welsh folktronica duo Firewoodisland are back with a mesmerizing new single, "Who Knew", following their success on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Radio Wales, as well as placements on Netflix and Vice. Stian Vedøy and Abi Eleri have established a reputation for their emotional and cinematic soundscapes and stunning vocal harmonies.

The duo describes their sound as "Mountain-Pop", a fusion of pop's catchiness, indie's sensibilities, and folk's organic elements with electronics. "Who Knew" showcases this genre-bending style with lo-fi electronics, finger-picked acoustic guitars, and melancholic lead vocals. The track evolves into a subtly catchy chorus, introducing warm piano, brass, and violins. The result is a beautiful, ethereal, and grounded sound reminiscent of Bon Iver.

The song is a personal reflection on meeting someone who changes your world view for the better, as Abi Eleri turned to Stian Vedøy and asked him to write a love song about her. Firewoodisland's honesty and relatable lyrics are on full display in their upcoming third album, set for release throughout 2023 via monthly singles. The album tackles the duo's life stories, struggles, challenges, hopes, and dreams, with a more raw lyrical style than their previous releases.

Firewoodisland's success has led to praise from various music publications and placements on Spotify editorial playlists, with over 10 million streams on the platform. The duo has also graced stages at festivals such as Rochdale Feel Good Festival, Weyfest, and Latitude, and has played over 20 Sofar Sounds sessions. "Who Knew" is a beautiful representation of Firewoodisland's unique sound and musical vision.
