"Belly" is Floyd Zion's lyrical new single that questions religion, the mental health of today's youth, and exposes societal constructs. The song tackles feelings evoked from Floyd's own experience in a relationship, as well as the harm one may inflict on themself when in poisonous emotional surroundings.
Hazy synthetic riffs evoke teenage angst, with Floyd's vocal lines dripping in overdrive, nodding to a more current sound that draws from hyperpop, bedroom pop and euphoric indie sensibilities. He ushers in a new age of indie rock sounds that blend across genres, with processed percussion layered over live drum patterns, washed guitars imitating indie riffs, a nostalgic atmosphere, and a catchy melody to link it all together.
"Belly" is taken from the debut EP, Pink by Floyd with the track co-written with producer Kayhan Azadi. The song brings something completely fresh and self-aware, and with the full EP coming out in May 2023, Floyd Zion is building up to something truly special.
