Alma Mater write love letter to their children with "Fading Moon"

Folk drenched pop duo Alma Mater has just shared their debut single. Called "Fading Moon", the Oregon based twosome composed of Dirk Sullivan and Andrew Paul Woodworth teamed up with veteran producer Gregg Williams (Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris) for an intoxicating folk drenched pop affair.

With "Fading Moon", Alma Mater contemplates the fear of death and not being there for the one you love when the time comes. For Andrew Paul of the band this was inspired by his deep love for his two children and becoming a father later in life. Poignant lyrics including, "That I'll be gone / while you're still young / did I wait too long / I'm sorry I'm sorry / I had that life to live first," show Andrew Paul being aware and saddened of the fact that he most lilley won't be there for his children for the rest of their lives. The song is equally comforting though with Andrew Paul reassuring how much he loves them. Musically, "Fading Moon" is an enthralling lush folk pop tune complete with stunning falsetto vocals and an infectious acoustic guitar riff. Layered melodies overhang cathartic string arrangements and delicate acoustics for a lullaby of solace.

Alma Mater is a new band from veteran singer/songwriter Andrew Paul Woodworth and guitarist and songwriter Dirk Sullivan. Founded during the pandemic, the highly musical duo began work on their debut album which chronicles themes such as loss, fatherhood, divorce, and devotion. Take a listen to "Fading Moon" now and hold close the ones you love as alas we won't be here forever.
