With a recently converted sound from Bedroom-pop to punchier and refined pop music, Sunnbrella, aka David Zbirka is set to release his new single "A Week Or So" which explored a tinged indie style that he’s best known for. Beginning life as a lo-fi bedroom producer from Prague, Zbirka has gone onto play festival main stages and sharing them with the likes of Beck and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
“A Week Or So” is a track peppered with glistening guitar chords, warming vocals and s steady pop drum beat throughout. Written alongside band member Claire Peng, the inspiration of the track comes from a toxic relationship and its final moments – “this song was the first time Claire and I wrote together and she eventually joined the live band because of this collaboration. We both approached the writing from different places, but I think in general, the song is about getting out of a toxic relationship and seeing all the red flags that you missed while you were in it.”
The UK based artist has shown on "A Week Or So" why he's such an accomplished and talented songwriter. The track has a retro-leaning feel to it, with the male-female vocal harmonies working together perfectly. In 2023, don't be surprised to hear the name Sunnbrella more often.
“A Week Or So” is out now on all streaming platforms.
