Swiss-born, Berlin-based singer/songwriter, Ay Wing's brand of alternative soul music has captivated us for a while now. After her last single "Trippin" which came out early this year, the sultry-voiced singer is back with a new gem "Bloodstream" which serves as the title track for her album of the same name.
The record starts off with a thunderous drum roll that is accompanied immediately by Ay's soothing vocals padded by funky guitar plucks rich somber textures, and a steady drum groove that drives the track. The record dwells on the detrimental effects of suppressed emotions and how they can create a form of self-detachment. Ay reflects on these emotions and comes to the terms with them in order to heal and move on as she sings "Why does it hurt so bad, I should feel so good/ Why do I feel so sad, Am I misunderstood".
