London-based singer-songwriter, James Crowley has released his latest single “Kerosene” which explores the. Released via Dialtone, the new single explores optimism that comes in a relationship before excavating the depths of a person and finding out who they really are.

Influenced by great minds such as Julia Jacklin, Laura Marling, Bon Iver, Alt-J, Marika Hackman and Nick Drake, the new single sees Crowley using milky mellotron flutes, filtered flange guitars and distorted vocals to offer an unflinchingly honest depiction of forming modern relationships.

Speaking on the new single, James Crowley writes “When I was writing Kerosene, I had this warped assumption that other people read meaning in everything in the way that I do. I thought everyone had the same drive to make every gesture, every conversation, significant. It’s a painful process to be confronted with the fact that you’ve invested more in a relationship than someone else. But when you understand that gap, you can figure out your own needs better. Or so I’m told.”

“Kerosene” by James Crowley is out now on all streaming platforms.
