New York based alt-rock meets indie-pop collective Morning Silk has just shared their latest single "Skin" off of their recently released self titled EP. The project is led by Frank Corr who enlisted the help of Sur Back for the atmospheric indie dream-rock single.
"Skin" is all about continuing the hustle of artistic endeavours and trying to find the motivation to keep trying even when it's hard to get by financially. This autobiographical single was written by Corr during the pandemic when it was more difficult than ever to keep up with the bills. Lyrics including, "cause if you don't / pay the rent / pay no mind / try again," show Morning Silk will continue to pursue their artistry no matter what and the band has the tenacity to try again. "Skin" is a hazy and whimsical collision of pop, rock and electronica for an enthralling sound. Swirling rich synths overhang driving beats and moody guitar lines in this anthem dedicated to artists. Sur Back adds another dimension to the single with her hushed honey-dipped vocals for an intoxicating listen.
Morning Silk is known not only as a recording project but also as a producer and co-writer with Frank Corr collaborating with other artists including Richie Quake, Middle Part, Sur Back, and Anna Shoemaker. First sharing music in 2019, the band's recently released EP was co-produced by Robert Norris, Eamon Ford, and Matthew Lancaster. Check out "Skin" now and remember the hustle can be worth it.
