NY-based experimental pop group SYTË was started by singer Nita Kaja and Drin Tashi in Prishtina, Kosovo, and their debut EP was released shortly after. Since then, they have evolved into a four-piece band including Granit Havolli and bassist Fatlind Ferati and have played at a number of well-known festivals like Pop-Kultur Festival, Sunny Hill Festival and Localize Festival, to name a few. Their latest release "Sirena" is a mid-tempo alternative pop number that is made up of rich moody guitar riffs, rousing punchy bass-driven drum grooves underpinned by Nita's distinct vocal style that straddles between contralto and slightly airy melodic runs.
Nita is quite candid with her songwriting as she muses on the many transgressions of an ex-lover, reminding him that she is no longer his plaything. The production from the band is top-notch and dynamic as the verses are stripped down while the chorus sections have more oomph as the layered arrangement comes to light at that juncture.
"Sirena" also comes with an official visualizer that showcases Nita's eclectic style. The simplicity is noteworthy as it's shot in one primary location but the use of visual effects, and bright colour schemes contrasting a gritty backdrop gives it an exotic feel.
