Los Angeles super-producer NugLife is not new to us, and has gifted us with some gems in the past, such as his collaborative project with Inland Empire independent artist FrankieOG, which came out earlier this year. Presently, the producer is working with legendary west coast lyricist Planet Asia for a new collaborative project entitled ALKALINE GENETICS, and in the interim he shares the lead single "NUG TUNIN'." The record is a laidback anthem for the smokers in the house, and it's made with smokey, hazy guitar plucks, warm textures, and sparse soft drums all underpinned by Planet Asia's relatable lyrics that take listeners back to the 90s when he was a youngster doing what most young people do to get by. PA is as smooth as butter and lines like "In the 90s back when aunty had the sess in the cookie can and your relatives will threaten you with the boogie man/, My notebook was like behold the future, you be forever fresh to death like a Polo booster" are as vivid as the sun.
"NUG TUNIN'" is taken from the collaborative project ALKALINE GENETICS. An 18-minute, 7-track long body of work made up of psychedelic and grimy production with witty, smoke-filled and reflective rhymes. The project took 4 studio sessions to be completed and continues Planet Asia’s upcoming Cannabis releases, this project gives you a soundtrack teaser into the “Red Snapper” inspired strain cultivated by Alkaline Genetics. Soon to be released via Cookies stores!
