Katie Kim is back with a hauntingly beautiful new single "Eraser," ahead of the release of her sixth album. The Dublin-based artist has been in the game for quite some time, accruing a devoted following. It’s no surprise that her sound is refined, distinctive and has an ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
"Eraser" is a folk-laced track features eerie strings that provide the perfect canvas for her mellow, whispering delivery that is effortlessly haunting. Lyrics are delivered with intensity, keeping listeners enticed. Minimalist drums provide a framework for these chilling elements to ebb and flow between each other, creating her signature sound.
The track was written at 2 o'clock in the morning after watching 'All The President's Men', fitting for the dark sonic landscape that she has created. Katie reveals: "I'm pretty sure it's not a song directly about Watergate, but the tune and melody began tapping away at me during a scene where Robert Redford, Woodword, meets Deep Throat for the first time in a parking garage. I stayed up for a few hours fleshing it out and mostly wrote it all that night. When it came time to record it, we asked Ellie to come in and see what she thought around percussion and she really added a different dimension to the feel I think. She added an extra sneakiness and playfulness to it, which in turn adds to the feeling of covert operations in the night.”
"Eraser" is taken from the upcoming album Hour Of The Ox which promises to be a captivating addition to Katie's musical catalogue. The song is recorded, arranged and produced in collaboration with John "Spud" Murphy (Black Midi, Caroline, Lankum), and together they have created an expansive landscape that is soul-baring and refreshingly raw.
