Canadian dark pop artist POESY just released her new single "Cynthia". The artist, who is known for her intoxicating vocals coupled with dramatic sinister storylines, is set to perform at the Canadian Games this year and is gearing up to release her new EP later this year.
In "Cynthia", POESY explores themes of infatuation, obsession, and burning desire for a wild immersion of emotion and passion. The danceable track is not like her previous releases, and carries a more upbeat throwback 80s pop vibe, filled with grooves and a plethora of alluring soundscapes.
Lyrics such as, " I was too afraid to see that you were right in front of me / we should do what lovers do / I don't want to sleep until you…." captures the heightened animal instincts tied to lust. POESY further confides, "I love that it's not taking itself too seriously. And as a big classic horror fan, I'm so happy with the video and how it really has that old school cheesy haunted prom atmosphere. I hope it's a tune everyone puts on and dances to with their friends while they fantasize about their crush. Cynthia very much shows my scorpio moon — if I'm into you, I'm really into you. Obsession can be intoxicating."
The accompanying visuals for "Cynthia" transport the viewer back in time to vibrant 80s prom scene with a messy murder plot twist that is raw and provocative.POESY is a classically trained singer, songwriter and pianist, Sarah Botelho. Her music melds alt rock, pop, and goth for a unique and fascinating explosion of sound. Check out "Cynthia" here for the ultimate prom plot twist.
