Toronto-raised rapper and songwriter Jordan Lutes, popularly known as “Jutes”, has been on a roll since 2021 with his nostalgia-filled mix of pop, rap, and the perfect amount of alt-rock. With singles like “Those Were the Days”, “Wiped Out”, and “Broke Boy”, Jutes gave us a glimpse at his versatility when it comes to his craft. Even more recently, Jutes released 2 indie-rock singles in April – completely capturing the indie/bedroom pop vibe. But since that release, things have been rather quiet. Until August 3, when Jutes released possibly one of the best hip-hop/rock hybrid tracks of the year.
Simple pop-punk chord progression and a killer synth line make “Hollywood Hillbilly” one of the artist’s most exciting drops yet – and it’s even accompanied by a hillbilly-themed music video.
Jutes’ melodies force you to rock out on this one, making it a must-have for any playlist. And as the name suggests, Jutes definitely is a Hollywood Hillbilly – if the buildup of the track and wild synthesizer drop hasn’t already convinced you. This is reportedly the first track off his upcoming project, and far from disappointing at that.
