Rising Brooklyn, New York rapper Jason Flame is slowly making his bones in the industry with his style of relatable lyricism and love of smooth sublime instrumentals. The rapper started making music at the age of 14 and he first popped on our radar when he dropped his 2021 album It's Always Been There. Now, he returns to the forefront with a 2 song release titled Creative Connection which sees him working with a couple of producers whom he met in a Smino’ fan group chat on Twitter.
The first record "Disasters Recipe" is an electronic-infused record inspired by Lupe Fiasco in terms of style and theme. Flame blends vivid and heartfelt lyricism that is deep and reflective in many ways. He also employs a unique melodic run that showcases his versatility as a songwriter who is not afraid to stray from the usual. The use of subtle vocal effects and the experimental arrangement really adds a different feel to the record as a whole while Dallas producer, Surface Grey's crisp production is solid.
Next up is the title track "Creative Connection" which sees him working with ATL producer, MadeByTae who crafts a dreamy, soulful backdrop for Flame to kick introspective bars. The record focuses on the concept of duality and Flame shows us how 2 sides of the same coin are connected in many ways from the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects. Again, Flame employs his offbeat airy melodic flows and sing-songy raps to convey his message to the world.
Overall, the two track project displays different sides to Flame's artistry, one he goes left field with an experimental sound and the other sees him changing up his style to a hazy and highly melodic performance.
