German act Luisa Siorou compares rom-coms to real life love on "80s Rom-Com"

German artist Luisa Siorou follows up an impressive debut with sophomore track “80s Rom-Com,” an immersive production which combines swirling 80s pop reminiscent synth sounds with a gritty modern pop edge, pulling us in with an earworm melody.

Leaning into Siorou’s penchant for bringing enticing stories and infectious, dance-ready melodies together in her music, the track draws a parallel’s between reel life rom-coms and love stories in real life, referencing cult film Pretty In Pink. The highlight of the track is a catchy hook, framed by wit as she sings, “If this was an 80s Rom-Com…You wouldn’t play the lead.”

The atmospheric production brims with nostalgia even as it sets the rising star up for a promising future in music. Seemingly having perfected the craft of encapsulating nuggets of the past in her modern pop sound, Luisa Siorou has caught our attention and isn’t likely to let go of it anytime soon.
