Multi-talented Reeta Loi is a woman of many talents- from producing documentaries, to spoken word pieces, to founding the global movement Gaysians, to giving thought-provoking talks at TEDxLondon, and festival stages around the world including Mumbai Pride. She started professionally as a spoken word artist and jazz singer in Brixton’s thriving scene in the early 2000s before going on tour and transitioning into DJing and producing. Her 2018 EP release Ek was released to critical acclaim and her work is known to transcend gender boundaries and explores identity through sound, especially the voice as a British Indian artist.

There is so much to unwrap before we even get to the music, so it's best we do not lose track. Her latest release "Remedy" continues her efforts to disrupt the status quo in her own unique way, and also serves as her first ever release under Stereofox Records.

The record is as eclectic as they come, and showcases her experimental, alt-pop style underpinned by visceral topics ranging from self-awareness, to finding one's true voice amidst the external noise within the system hell-bent on keeping their strap boots on the necks of the masses. Reeta crafts a haunting and dark soundscape made of brooding textures, clashing snares, and thick bass lines that go off the 1, alluding to her love of all things left field. Her performance is expressive and she delivers her message in an offbeat, carefree manner while she etches thoughtful lyrics that explore the underhanded ways of the world. Lines like "They know how to capitalize on your skills for paper/Until they recognize their inhuman behavior" hit the ears like a reminder as the chorus follows through with a foreboding aura.

Reeta Loi is also known for her activism in the LGBTQ community and recently fought for legislation change in India. She also uncovered and shutdown a gay marriage scam in her VICE documentary, shifting the media landscape at Gay Times.
