Emerging singer/ songwriter Dwin, The Stoic makes his entry on our site with a triple single release. The two singles "Gkw" and "Winning Bread" see him teaming up with producers GRNDMSTR and Rhaffy, who provide him with the perfect canvas for his heartfelt songwriting and experimental Afro-pop and soul infusions.

In "Gkw" which stands for God Knows Where, Dwin, The Stoic tells a lovelorn tale of a man who muses to be with his lover. He runs through many scenarios and how nature has refused to align the stars, the two just can't be together. While the story is sad, and Dwin's somber lyrics paint a vivid picture of gloom, the backdrop provided by GRNDMSTR is quite uplifting and soothing. The mix of afrobeats and electronic pop with subtle dancehall grooves blend perfectly with Dwin's bass-laden vocals and laidback melodic runs.

The second track "Winning Bread" is a reflective ballad that sees him teaming up with producer Rhaffy, who laces him with warm piano progressions, moody strings, and pounding drum grooves. Dwin, The Stoic shares his candid thoughts on modern life and how we as humans are trapped in a never-ending rat race where no one ever wins. The lyrics are vivid and soul-stirring, and Dwin's emotionally punchy performance really touches the soul. He summarizes it all with this poignant line, “what will be will be but can it please be good?”. The last song is a reprise of "Gkw" and helps close the triple release out.

Edwin Madu creates music under the name “Dwin, The Stoic”. He is a songwriter, performer, composer, poet, and journalist based in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also one-half of the indie band Ignis Brothers. He has written music for acts like Adekunle Gold, Ibejii, Jessica Bongos, Bigfootinyourface, and others. Influenced by musicians like Paul Simon, Jim Reeves, Labrinth and Asa, he creates music across several genres including afropop, chamber pop, soft rock, alt-pop, folk, EDM, house, etc.
