Emerging UK r&b artist Tsharna makes an entry with her debut EP About That Time, a five track body of work that dives into the true concept of love, the changing dynamics of relationships, and more. On the production side of things, she linked up with longtime collaborator Solikeys, Sunsetdrver, and Machine Baby who help create the perfect atmosphere around her.
The EP opens with the lead single "Think About Me," a sublime love ballad that talks about how she gave away her love without reciprocity from her partner. This is followed by the bright and playful tune "Curfew," which explores the initial passion of puppy love. From the smooth guitar plucks, warm tones, and punchy drums, Tsharna basks in the warmth of her lover with vivid songwriting and a sultry melodic performance to match.
In "For Life," she is unapologetic about the type of love she wants and wants nothing less. The final track "Insane" sees her as the original definition of the ride or die chick who would do anything for her partner even if it's to her own detriment.
Overall the EP is brimming with crisp and beautifully crafted soundscape that captures the true essence of R&B and soul. Tsharna understands the assignment and delivers on all fronts with exciting vocal performances ripe with a range of emotions and profound and thoughtful songwriting.
Born in Luton to Jamaican and St. Lucian parents, Tsharna grew up listening to reggae, soca, and dancehall and began writing poems from as early as 8-years old. Inspired by legends such as Whitney Houston and Etta James, her poetry soon turned into ballads, with a newfound penchant for contemporary R&B expanding her musical palette. Tsharna went on to study music at BIMM London and has been releasing music independently since 2018.
