I honestly don't have to introduce award-winning comedian Hannibal Buress to most people. As you know, his stand-up indirectly led to Bill Cosby being prosecuted, and is also infamous for his work on the Eric Andre show. I do, however have to introduce to you Eshu Tune, Buress' emcee name, and before you jump to conclusions, he is damn good with the pen. So, to put it in context, at certain times when Buress is not doing stand-up, he is rapping and has been consistent with it for a minute. From working on solo tracks to pairing with underground lyricist Open Mike Eagle, Eshu Tune has been playing the game on his own terms. His new release "1-3 Pocket" is an ode to his pastime of bowling and partaking in competitions (his first was in 1990 as a kid). The record has an offbeat and somewhat experimental texture which fits Eshu Tune's noninformative style of rap. He blends stream of consciousness with bravado and reflection and even throws in a random autotune vocals just for the fun of it. He doesn't take himself too seriously but exudes enough passion to show listeners that he knows the assignment and loves what he is doing.

Here is a quick one about Buress' bowling history. Yes, he started bowling as a kid but once adult life kicked in, he completely left it alone until he rediscovered it and found a 24-hour bowling alley and completely zoned out just playing by himself. His love for the game grew to a point that he came up with an idea for a bowling-related TV show called 50 states of Bowling which will see him travel to different bowling alleys around the country and have conversations alongside small shows, but unfortunately the pandemic shut everything down. But at least we got a song out of it.  Stream "1-3 Pocket" on Apple Music, YouTube, and Deezer.
