Cassia announce new album with futuristic single "Motions" [Video]

Macclesfield band Cassia have been soaring through the past few years with their jangly, summer-fuelled hits, including their recent EP Magnifer. Now, the trio release their colourful new single "Motions," released alongside the announcement of their forthcoming album Why You Lacking Energy?, the track places us in the year 2081, where information overload truly has us fatigued.

Relying on the uplifting boost from an energy drink titled Motion, Cassia appear to be momentarily energised until the next need to refuel. The track's metaphor not only suggests that Cassia are our saviours in the mundane times we're living in (because that's true), but that the things we are overwhelmingly consuming can be easily overcome with a quick but hearty dose of distraction. Yet, as ever, Cassia's familiar guitars and indie melodies thrive under Rob's vocals, a blend that make them instantaneously recognisable. A festival-ready anthem that draws on boppy indie melodies and free-flowing rhythms, "Motions" is the introduction to a new era of this trio.

"We wanted motions to feel like sand slipping through your fingers, a kind of unrelenting passing of time that you can't stop regardless of how tightly you clench your fists," explains drummer Jake Leff. "It is based on one spiralling thought that I have every so often: my time is slipping away and I'm not spending it how I should. Motions is like the wave of relief the moment I realised that I am not alone in this pseudo-life crisis".

The band's second album Why You Lacking Energy? is released July 15th via BMG.
