Following the release of “Lies,” Selbor returns with “Mensaje,” the second single of Selbor’s upcoming debut album that will be released on Friday, April 1st.
“'Mensaje' (meaning ‘message') came to Selbor while visiting Cristina Iglesia’s 'Forgotten Streams' sculpture, evoking the lost rivers of London. The track is ambient, moody and buoyant. Flowing through its measures with atmosphere and fluidity, the penultimate release ahead of his debut album adequately sets the stage for what fans can expect from the full body of work coming next month. Brimming with character, the single puts Selbor's production and songwriting prowess on display at its finest.
"The song is driven by a combination of flamenco clapping, a train rattling sample and a broken melody made by the beating of dulcimer strings. I have a forever-curious approach to my sound and identity, and I hope this song reflects that." he explains.
Selbor has already found fans in the likes of Agoria, Caribou and Roman Flügel and Hot Chip, the latter having remixed his last single. The album was written and recorded between Seville, Berlin and London, and fully immersed and influenced by each city's distinctive vibe, the result is a unique blend of flamenco, electronica and indie dance.
For the cover of this single and his debut album, Selbor has collaborated with artist DÉBORAS, sculptor and master of 3D Design, known for her work for Black Lives Matter and London coolest Queer club Adonis.
