Soul infused rock singer/songwriter Dave Cavalier has just unleashed his new single "The Hold." The impassioned track is off of his highly anticipated full length album Civilianaire coming out later this month.
The multidimensional songwriter explores sobriety and fatherhood in this new track, as the pandemic brought a lot of transformation for the acclaimed musician and he became a better man, husband and new father choosing to kick his long standing substance abuse. With that inner battle to stay on a good and healthy path, Cavalier brilliantly details the array of obstacles and emotions that can come with any change, even a positive one. He confides on the meaning of the song: "It is about the tension in between: knowing you need to be better but struggling to find your way in the process and being fearful of if you'll ever get to the other side. There's confusion, anger, persistence, failure and revival. At its core, it's a battle and that chaos is what I hoped to capture with this track, which became the cornerstone of an album that, as a whole, chronicled my journey into the next chapter of my life."
Sonically, the single features hard-hitting climatic drums, arena inspired guitars and a thrilling melody that lingers. The track features an array of sounds, high and low pitches to further highlight the intensity of emotions Cavalier faced during the pandemic.
