R&B up-and-comer Taylor Belle was destined for success from the second she started writing songs. A New York native now living on the west coast, Belle exudes the same radiance of the classic 2000s R&B standards, buoyed by her stadium-ready vocals that reverberate throughout each track. Out of Body is clearly the result of years of work to get to this point, and she shows no sign of slowing down from here.
Combining the smoky and eclectic jazziness of classic R&B and mixing it with modern soul and hip-hop elements, Out of Body is a fitting welcome to the LA songstress as she carefully assembled a smart and pointed roundup of her musical stylings. Beginning with the sweet and sultry "DNA", subtle percussion sets off a smooth vibe that accentuates the measured tenderness exercised by Belle throughout the project. "Ready" feels akin to the sweetly simplistic retro-R&B odes of Snoh Aalegra or Raveena, a true old-school inspired vibe that you'll want to listen to over and over again. "Take It Easy" is an intimate and insightful cut, featuring Grammy-nominated producer/artist Tank God, that borrows an almost dancehall-esque groove to ride into the sunset. Even the project's "Stardust Interlude" ties into the idealistic themes of the project, another immaculately produced gem that keeps the album feeling fresh and inventive.
Out of Body showcases the essential tools that an artist like Belle needs to become the next household name in R&B. The songwriting, vocals, and production all mesh to create an enviable debut project that is sure to net an abundance of new fans and potential collaborators.
