Aptly titled "MLK Day," the record juxtaposes America's dark past with the present-day as Ras Kass digs deep into systemic racism and socio-political turmoil. Backed by the somber production from TRACKZ 100, Kass delivers a solid performance ripe with vivid detail and thought-provoking lyrics such as " Guess religion contradicting heaven/Cuz terrorism is homegrown and these radical's got a reverend." The message is amplified by Eric Jaye's soulful melodies and emotive performance.
"MLK Day" comes with an animated video courtesy of Ninja Vanish! who uses retro motifs alongside the poignant lyrics. “MLK Day” is a leaked song from the forthcoming Public Enemy-inspired ensemble cast LP BLACK STEEL (to drop in fall 2022).
