West coast veteran producer Sir Veterano and Richmond, CA emcee Flii Stylz team up for the stylish video for the collaboration titled "What That Iz." The record itself is a mid-tempo banger ripe with punchy sparse drums, funky synths, and a commanding vocal performance. Stylz is definitely in his element here and singlehandedly carries the track with his charismatic style and distinct lyrical approach which blends bravado with a street edge.
For the video, director Lens Access keeps it stylish with the use of warm colors and recurring motifs. The performance shots are a fusion of close-ups and long shots that seamlessly blend into each other to capture Stylz in his element. The song is set to appear on Vet's upcoming full-length Fresh Yard Records release The Gathering Deluxe Version, also featuring guest appearances from Planet Asia, MC Eiht, Ras Kass, Bishop Lamont, Murs, Phat Kat, Mitchy Slick, Guilty Simpson, Casual, LMNO, Skillz, and Supastition. The original version of The Gathering (stream on Spotify) spawned visuals for singles "Reputable" featuring MC Eiht, Planet Asia, and Mitchy Slick, and "Cocaine Rap featuring Murs.
Flii Stylz is not only a rapper but an accomplished cinematographer known for his work on Usher's "You Don't Have to Call" and Missy Elliot's "Pass That Dutch" as well as his work as the lyrical voice of the Krump movement in David LaChapelle's Rize documentary.
